The Industrial Design Architect position is a senior level role (~8-10 years experience typically) within the Design organization. In this role, the Industrial Designer is expected to: manage their own programs with significant autonomy (2-4 programs per year of varying scale typically), build and nurture important business relationships with their program/business teams, collaborate with global team members on complex and challenging programs and initiatives, generate product concepts with creativity and customer needs in mind while adhering to all GE Healthcare brand guidelines, and work closely with other design functions such as customer research and software UX development.

Roles and Responsibilities:
Responsible for the industrial design of their assigned programs; encompassing exceptional product design via an empathetic lens to improve the functionality, aesthetics, usability, and ergonomics of GE HealthCare products.
Utilize in-depth knowledge and technical experience to execute programs and strategies.
Has knowledge of industrial design best practices and how their function integrates with others.
Is aware of the competition and the factors that differentiate them in the market, and uses this knowledge to deliver innovative solutions.
Uses mature judgment and has the ability to propose different solutions outside of set parameters (provides expected design solutions in addition to forward-thinking concepts that push the boundaries).
Uses technical experience and analytical thinking to push engineering and project teams towards innovative solutions.
Uses multiple internal and external sources outside of their own teams to arrive at decisions.
Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience. Explains information; developing skills to bring team members to consensus around topics within field. Conveys performance expectations and may handle sensitive issues.
Builds and nurtures business relationships with their program and business teams, with an eye on the big picture of moving design forward in the company.
Utilizes sketching, CAD modeling (CREO preferred), rapid prototyping, and multiple iterations to arrive at tested and robust final designs.
Complies with all Brand Guidelines and Design Director directions regarding the look and feel of product concepts.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited university or college in Industrial Design.
Proficient in 3D CAD modeling (CREO preferred) and physical prototyping.
Minimum 5 years of experience in a product-design related position (~8-10 years experience is typical for entry into this role)
